Facilities

The Westland District Library in Hokitika, operates six days a week offering a range of events and programmes for adults and children.

There has been a museum in Hokitika since at least 1869 although details are slim. When the Carnegie Library was built in 1908 the museum moved into a room in the new building.

Community halls are a focus for community functions, activities and meetings, and their existence assists with meeting some of the social and recreational needs of communities.
