Proposed Alcohol Restrictions Bylaw 2026

On 24 December 2025, Council provided public notice that a Statement of Proposal in relation to a Proposed Alcohol Restriction Bylaw was available.  The public notice provides information about how the public can acquire information about the proposal and make a submission.

The Local Government Act enables Council to develop a bylaw to regulate the consumption, possession and bringing of alcohol into public places.

The Alcohol Control Bylaw 2018 was revoked July 2025, and a new Alcohol Restriction Bylaw 2026 has been proposed.

The statement of proposal and a copy of the proposed Alcohol Restriction Bylaw can be viewed at the Customer Service area at Westland District Council or by accessing them online at:
