Westland District Council has reconfirmed its support for the Youth Strategy Programme (formerly known as CACTUS), in its second year of a three-year contract, reflecting its ongoing commitment to supporting rangatahi (youth) across the district.
Discussion around the programme’s funding at a recent Council meeting and in local media created some confusion due to a combination of factors; this has now been clarified and resolved.
“Staff changes and the rebranding of the programme seeded unnecessary uncertainty,” said Barbara Phillips, Chief Executive of Westland District Council. “We’ve worked closely with WestREAP to clear that up. Council remains fully committed to supporting youth-focused initiatives that help our rangatahi thrive.”
