Update Monday 9:45am - Haast-Jackson Bay Road between Neils Beach and Jackson Bay to RE-OPEN from 2pm Monday 3rd November. Contractors are still working in the area so please take care, Thank you for your patience in this manner.
Haast-Jackson Bay Road Between Neils Beach and Jackson Bay Wharf CLOSED for the remainder of this week and Long Weekend. Mondays heavy rain brought down a significant amount of material onto Haast-Jackson Bay Road.
With 2 more significant rainfall events coming later this week and early next week the decision has been made keep this road CLOSED until at least Tuesday 28th October 2025. Once these weather systems have passed Council Staff and Contractors will reassess the status and plan for the necessary clean up works.
Council wishes to apologise to those affected by the closure.

Road remains closed. Contractors & Council scoping required works with intent to start clearing ASAP. Next update 1pm Thursday 30th October.
**Update 22/10/2025 **
Council would like to remind the public that the Haast-Jackson Bay Road between Neils Beach and Jackson Bay Wharf remains closed and will not be worked on until Tuesday Next Week at the earliest.
We have been made aware that some members of the public are ignoring the road closure.
As this image shows there is an area of extreme risk of sudden collapse due to wave action or further rain so please respect the closure and do not risk everything just to get to Jackson Bay.
The local Police are aware of the illegal use of this closed road.
