Roll-out of the updated speed limit signs is nearing completion, with the remaining signs delivered to Council’s contractors, Westroads, last week.
“Circumstances did not work in our favour for getting the signage put in place when we intended,” reports Karl Jackson, Transportation Manager. “Unfortunately other areas around the country went through a similar process of reviewing their speed limits around the same time that Westland did, creating a high demand for speed limit signs. At the same time, there were supply issues with the materials that come from China, so the signs were not available. This means that the process has taken much longer than staff and contractors anticipated. The good news is that now the signs have been delivered, the installation programme can continue and we expect all the signs to be up within the next four weeks.”
