FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Following the Government’s move to put New Zealand into the red setting of the Covid Protection Framework, Council and Destination Westland wish to advise the community about what to expect when visiting Council premises.
Scanning in using the Covid tracer app, or using the alternative sign-in process, and wearing a mask is mandatory at all Council premises. From 11.59pm, Monday 24 January, visitors, the public and contractors will need to show a vaccine passport to enter the following Council premises:

Mayor Bruce Smith says, “Council has made the decision to require Covid Vaccine Passes for the safety of our staff and others who visit our facilities. The quickest way that we can return to more regular lives is to continue to get vaccinated or get a booster and to take care of ourselves and others if we get sick by staying home.
I strongly encourage people to start preparing themselves for an outbreak of Covid in our community and make sure that you have a plan for isolating that includes your family, animals, and any staff if you’re a business or farm owner. You can download a checklist from https://covid19.govt.nz/prepare-and-stay-safe/be-prepared-for-covid-19/ and it’s really helpful to make sure that you cover everything. Now is the time to do it, before we have Covid in our community.”
