Westland District Council has successfully recruited its new Senior Management Team as part of the Setting Up for Success programme. These appointments were achieved by redesigning existing positions and vacancies, meaning the new structure has been delivered within our current permanent FTE headcount and budget.
Recruitment was managed internally, through a thorough process that included both internal and external advertising. We attracted a strong pool of candidates locally, nationally, and internationally. The calibre of applicants was impressive, and a consistent theme emerged: people were motivated to join WDC because they want to be part of the Setting Up for Success journey.
Chief Executive Barbara Philips said, "All Senior Managers will be in place by 13 October 2025. Once the full team is on board, we will be coming out to the community to introduce them and connect with those we are here to serve."
The Setting Up for Success programme is about more than filling positions. It is about strengthening how we work together, clearer leadership, better support for staff, and improved capability across the Council. By putting the right people and roles in place, we are creating a strong foundation to serve our community efficiently, effectively, and sustainably.
