We know many people are looking forward to returning to the library's permanent home, and we're pleased to say the project is now in its final stages.
However, some additional construction work and project delays outside Council's control mean the reopening will take a little longer than originally anticipated. The library is currently anticipated to reopen in late November, subject to any unforeseen delays.
Contractors will continue working on site over the coming weeks to complete the remaining works. In the coming days staff will begin moving collections and equipment back into the library, setting up shelving and public spaces, and preparing everything for reopening.
While we'd all like to be opening sooner, taking the time to complete the remaining work properly will ensure the community has a safe, welcoming and well-prepared library when the doors reopen.
