Grand opening Cass Square Playground

Media Release - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On Sunday 23 June at 10.30am we will officially be opening the upgraded Cass Square Playground. The Council along with working group members from Let’s Play Hokitika, the Disability Sector and the Hokitika Community Trust look forward to welcoming the community to celebrate this exciting event with them.

“Seeing the end result of the strong vision the Working Group gave the designer is brilliant,” says Mayor Helen Lash. “The new playground reflects important icons of Westland and the environment that surrounds us. We know that the children will enjoy hours of play in the new and improved playground, which also supports the disability sector through a range of inclusive equipment.

For those unable to join us on the day, the playground will be open for all to enjoy from then onwards and we encourage you all to bring your children along to make the most of the facility.”

Working Group member Nigel Ogilvie adds, “Hokitika Community Trust and Let's Play Hokitika have enjoyed being involved in the working group developing Cass square playground and are excited to see the area transform with many exciting adventures for the kids to participate in.”

Join us at the Grand Opening featuring a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10.30am to open the playground, followed by a bouncy castle courtesy of the Hokitika Community Trust, a delicious sausage sizzle run by the Councillors, and a coffee cart to keep the grown-ups going.
